Lyle Earl Hood, 83, of Hawi died April 13 at Kohala Hospital. Born in Paia, Maui he was a retired mechanical engineer for C. Brewer and Co. Sugar and Bumble Bee Seafoods, member of Kalahikiola Congregational Church, past treasurer and member of the Kohala Senior Citizens, a 31st Degree Mason and past lodge master at Golden Trowel Masonic Lodge in Norwalk, Calif. and U.S. Coast Guard veteran. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Saturday (April 30) at Kalahikiola Congregational Church in Kapaau. Celebration of life will take place at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawi County Cemetery. Survived by wife, Eileen Hood of Hawi; son, Steven (Carol) Hood of Hawi; brother, Dale (Teresa) Hood of Oahu; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Gregory Gordon Kaprielian, 66, of Ocean View died April 21. Born in Portland, Ore., he was a sheet metal and construction worker, taxi and tour driver and U.S. Army veteran. Katsumi Yahiro, age 89, of Hilo died April 11 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Waihee, Maui, he was a retired construction mechanic for Dole Pineapple Co. and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin.
